Latching one door after another

running my hands over wood panelling

I pause to think.

Gazing at holes bored into the walls

where photographs have always hung.

No more.

It's a circular room - no corners.

Three windows, all closed.

I step out.

And then back in.

Inside is safer.

Safely cocooned in here.

Away from every possible

Danger.

A risk worth taking?

Win some, lose some?

I think not.

Tired, I let my gaze

run over the panelling again.

That, and the doors.

Shall I?

No. Not yet, at least.

Why ?
Why do you wait?
In the dark , alone inside
When you know that there is nothing to hide,
from..
Or have you gone back the roads where you once ventured out, into the open to play and shout,
Where the sunshine smiled upon the minds that let them
come.

Why wait ?
For someone else to have the key
when you know in your heart what you cannot see
when the other side, is not so big
as you make yourself believe it to be.

Why wait, when you have voices there,
narrating stories for you to hear,
Ears are wide open for you to share
what you think others will not wait to find..
come out in the open and you will know that the only place where you cannot go is the place that is made unreachable, only by your mind.

Because its not you, whose inside
Its all those others, on the otherside,
trapped in their shells of closedness, treating their life like a rodents' race,
who cannot wait to take a breath to see the birds fly in the sky.
So fear not my little sis,
and understand by reading this,
that when you open the door, you wont miss
the Hugman's good old smile
because after you come out
he will go with you to play and shout and run around for another hundred miles!!

what does someone reply to something this beautiful? :) 'thank you' doesn't even begin to suffice...
